Kevin Kling and Simone Perrin have created a performance tailor-made for a beautiful Stillwater evening. Featuring humor, stories, great music and a tender moment now and again, Kevin and Simone are thrilled to be back on stage this month at The Zephyr Theatre.
Kevin Kling is best known for his popular commentaries on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and his storytelling stage shows. His tales are as enchanting as they are true to life whether hopping freight trains, getting hit by lightning, or eating things before knowing what they are.
Simone Perrin, actress, vocalist and accordionista has performed throughout the country, including “A Prairie Home Companion”, and joins Kevin frequently to stir things up and get the joint jumping.
Kevin Kling is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from Osseo High and Gustavus Adolphus College. He has performed his stories in libraries, school gymnasiums, The Kennedy Center, Off-Broadway, regional theaters and storytelling festivals around the US. His international tours have included Australia, Europe, and Thailand. He has been a commentator for National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.” Mayor RT Rybak named Kevin the Minneapolis Story Laureate in 2014. He has authored five books and produced six CDs. His website is kevinkling.com.
Musician and songwriter Simone Perrin grew up on the banks of the upper Mississippi in beautiful Winona, MN. After some time in New York City, and then Minneapolis, where she met and started working with Kevin Kling, Simone moved to rural Wisconsin, where she lives today with her family. In between trips to the garden and snuggles with her little guys, Simone travels to towns around the Upper Midwest to sing songs and tell stories. She has appeared on the Prairie Home Companion and has performed with many regional theaters including The Guthrie, Theater Latte Da, Open Eye Figure Theatre, The Cincinnati Playhouse and The Seattle Repertory Theater, where she and Kevin developed two original plays, How? How? Why? Why? Why? and Breakin’ Hearts and Takin’ Names. In 2009, Simone released her first album Hummingbird available online at CDbaby.com.
